Walt....the Marine Corps always looked for amateur radio licensees among
their troops and quickly transferred them into communications if they were
in the infantry or armor etc.
Through the years they also encouraged operation by amateurs by making
Collins S Line sets available on loan from the MWR activities.
Sad to say that these days the communication game in the military is 99%
digital and there is no special effort made to go after them.
Computer knowledgeable types are more in demand.
