In reference to Estate Planning

Jeff, WA6FWI, made some important recommendations concerning
our estate planning efforts. He suggested each of us plan our
Will well in advance of our deaths. I agree completely. We do
not want our XYLs with the problem of resolving these problems
in probate court, where greedy relatives try to eat out a piece
of the pie or, particularly, where greedy attorneys -- in collusion with the courts -- conspire to take a bigger piece of the pie.
There is also another problem. When you write a Will, make sure
every important person in the family knows about it and has access to his own copy. An uncle of mine died two years ago and left a
Will; however, he left the Will in his home where one of his brothers stole it before anyone realized it. Now we are involved in
some heavy probate. All of his relatives are fighting like hell
for the biggest share they can get and one attorney has filed an
application for an excessive fee. It is completely impossible for him to have done so work. So, be careful! Everyone gets greedy!
Including attorneys, courts and relatives.

Sincerely,

Alvah Buckmore, Jr., K1TMA

A recent posting about the passing of a fellow member brought a few
points to mind.

1. PLAN YOUR ESTATE before it's too late.
Don't leave a mountain of stuff behind that your XYL has to dispose of,
or worse
yet, has to deal with the local vultures circling around trying to "assist."
Leave proper instructions for the executor of your estate to deal with
you collection.

2. Live the kind of life where the minister doesn't have to lie at your
eulogy.
