Since we have recently posted a solicitation for candidates for a new
QCWA General Manager, you are now aware that our General Manager, Jim
Walsh, W7LVN, is stepping down from his GM's job. What you are probably
NOT aware of is that the reason he is so doing is because of the
development of a serious health problem, which was not anticipated until
recently. Jim has been a very dedicated and professional Manager for the
Association for many years and served on the QCWA Board before becoming
GM. He will not be easy to replace. We wish you well Jim, and we hope
that your medical people will get to the bottom of your problems soon,
in order to offer you some relief.

Jim's departure leaves your Board of Directors a gigantic problem in
that we have to search and approve the appointment of a new General
Manager before the end of this year. One encouraging bit of information
is that we have received several applicants for the GM position. Please
keep "tuned" to the web page, where we will keep you posted on
developments. We expect to make an announcement on this matter around
mid December.

Chapter Secretaries - Please Notice

Effective immediately, all Chapter Reports, Classified Advertisements,
Articles and Special Events Notices shall be sent to our Editor, Gerry
Wentz, KC4EHT, to the address shown on Page one of any Journal or via
E-mail

This change will have two positive effects - it will streamline the
information flow of copy to the Journal Editor, and it will assist the
new GM during the transition stage by relieving him of this
responsibility. We would encourage all Chapter Secretaries to send their
reports and pictures electronically, and if they are not equipped to do
so, to endeavour to have another Chapter member to do so for them. This
will minimize transmission time and also permit easier manipulation at
the Editorial Office.

We will continue to have a "Journal Oversight Committee" (Currently
Chaired by Bill Mc Grannahan, NZL, and the General Manager will
continue to be a member of this committee.

Effective immediately, all Web Updates shall be sent to our Webmaster,
Bob Roske, NUF via E-mail

A short notice of the above will appear in the Winter Journal which will
be soon going to print.

QCWA President
