I am not surprised about this Gene. This subject has been
pretty well beat to death and you know how politicians don't
like to stick their neck out :-).
What I am surprised about is that my posting about what
kind of activity members are doing in radio such as building
only received one response.
To tell you the truth it has made me think seriously about
shutting down the list!! I started the list as an extension of
the local chapter meetings so members could chat and discuss
Amateur Radio related subjects with others and it like many ham
radio list has just turned into a place to gripe and bitch!!
Maybe that is what most chapter meetings are like but
I don't think so. Could this be at the root of the problem
getting and keeping new members? Are we getting so old
and set in our ways that the only time we are happy is
when we are griping and bitching about anything that comes
along?
I'll ask the question again. Has anyone built anything lately?
Has anyone worked any new DX?
Has anyone even been off the keyboard and on the air this week?
This month? This year? I don't care weather it was CW or SSB or PSK31
or just touching 2 wires together. Have you made any contacts?
An even better question is when was the last time you sent a
QSL card to someone you worked? I hope the reason you don't
QSL anymore is not because you don't ever work any new
stations but only work people on the same old nets week after week.
Let's hear what you have been up to.
