Though I am not a member of QCWA, I have been a ham for over 55 years and agree the the
code in some for should be retained. If on the other hand the FCC takes the position that
the code is no longer needed, it should change the written examinations to a degree that
they become more technical in nature to better reflect the growing technical advances
being made. When I took the Extra exam prior to the dropping of the 20WPM requiement, I
found that the written exam was much easier than my original Class B exam I took in 1948.
The new exam format should reflect changes and could be such that the Tech would be
as hard as the old Class B and the General like the Class A and a much more difficult exam
for the Extra. Just my 2 cents worth. 73 to all
