CENTRAL OKLAHOMA CHAPTER 63
QUARTER CENTURY WIRELESS ASSOCIATION
QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER

10 JANUARY 2003

Welcome to Winter Ladies and Gentlemen. As I write this,
the temp is 32 outside with it going down to 23 tonight.
An as Sam WA5WHO once said, I am staying on the warm side
of the door. With this being the start of a new year, I
hope the best for everyone and for the Chapter. However,
there will some changes coming up during the year. So good
luck to all.

This will be our first Quarterly Luncheon of the new year.
and it going to be on the 18 of January 2003. This will be
an important meeting, as we will be electing three new
Directors and a new President, as Larry W5EIU ask to be
replace as president for the last year of him term. More on
that later. We will be meeting at the HOMETOWN BUFFER, ON
NW 63RD STREET, JUST WEST OF PORTLAND AVE., IN OKLAHOMA CITY
AT 1100 HOURS ON THE 18TH OF JANUARY 2003. Our Officers and
Directors would as always l ike to see a good for the
Luncheon. Wives, girlfriends and other guess are always
welcome. Thanks again George for making the arrangements
for the meeting place.

I would like to take this time to thanks the Officers
 (W5EIU-W5JKK), Directors W5KP, W5QVS, WA5SME & W5UZV) Net
 Manger-Historian (K5DLE) and our Bulletins Station (N5VD)
for all the time and work they have given to the Chapter
during the year 2002. With out them our Chapter would not
be here. I hope we all support them during the year of
 2003.

As stated early, Larry--W5EIU has decided to for go his
last year as President of the Chapter. Jerry--W5KP has
agreed to take his place if the Chapter elects him to do
so. As, Jerry is now a Director, a one will have to be
voted in at the meeting to fill his remaining year as a
Director. K5PJB--Scott and AD5HM--Dave have agreed to run
for the two open Directorships, as W5QVS--Jay and W5UXV--
 Willard are rotating off.

We are standing at 114 member in our Chapter. I will not
list all of then, but we had 7 members who became a S/K
during the year of 2002, and that is the most in one year
that I can remember. On the good side, we had 10 new
members join our Chapter during2002. With some dropping
out, that leaves us with 114 count. We will miss the S/K's
and the other hand we welcome the new member to our group.
I might add that we now have members from KY, KS, MO, TX, NM
and of course OK.

A quick report on our two nets. The W5HXL memorial Net
meets on 145.21 repeater with 146.925 as back up on Thursday
night at 1900 hours. We have had about 16-22 stations
checking on this net. This a fun net and we invite any and
all to join us. It is co-sponsored by the VHF Club and the
Chapter 63 of QCWA. Gene KA5CNT is the net Manager for the
VHF Club and Gene K5DLE Net Manager of the QCWA. We want to
thank them for the hard work they have put forth to make
these nets a success. Our QCWA Net which meets on 3855KC,
SSB, at 0800 hours on Sunday mornings. For many weeks now
we have had over 50 stations checking in. In fact we had 59
this last week. The early bird part of the net starts with
W5JKK around 0630 and taken over later by K5DLE on Sunday
morning with the formal net getting under way at 0800. Of
course we would like to see many of our Members check in
with us, but we also welcome any amateur operator to check
in with us.

At our Board meeting this week, Jerry--W5KP subjection that
we ought to try to get Ham Radio back into our meetings. I
am sure that many of our member have some project that they
are working on that would be willing to bring it to our
Luncheon Meet ings and give us a run down on the equipment
Ect. Also, we need to have guess speakers at our meetings.
We of course enjoy the Luncheon and the Eye-Balls, but we
need something to get our members will to come to the
meetings. I know that some of our members are into QRP and
built there rigs, hope some are proud enough of their rigs
to bring them to the meeting and let the rest of us see what
they have done.

I have been putting out the Quarterly news letter for some
times now. Again I extend in invitation to let me know if
you have any thing you wish to have put in the news letter,
or any changes you think will help in the area.

I want to think the support of the Chapter for my wife and
my trip to QCWA Convention in Kissimmee, FL this past
October. It was a great rip and we enjoyed the Convention
very much.

In closing, I would like to encourage each and every one of
our members to take part in our nets and our Quarterly
Meetings. I know because of the distance, some members
won't be able to come, but if you are in the area we sure
would like to have an eye ball with you. Again, I would
like to say, I hope with the new year coming up, we will get
behind our Officers and Directors both at the Chapter level
and National as well. I know that at any given time you
will not be able to support every thing, no one expects you
to, but when you can support their ideals, let it be known.
And as I said before, we are open to subjection's.
