The following is from VP Ray Johnson, K5RJ. Each meeting at Neighbors will
start 11:30 am with lunch orders being taken and will conclude by 2:30 pm.

Greetings,

Here is the program lineup for the first three months of the new year. I do
hope you can attend all meetings.

CHAPTER PROGRAM FOR 18 JANUARY 2003
Location: Neighbor's Restaurant
          262 Cedar Lane
          Vienna, VA.

We will have John Reiser, WQ4L, who is a chapter 91 member as our speaker
for the first meeting in the new year. John was employed by the FCC for
almost 40 years, the first 12 as a field engineer inspecting stations of all
kinds and investigating claims of interference and violations. In 1973 he
transferred to the FCC's Washington Field Office where he was in charge of
the examination and station inspection activities.

His presentation will include interesting and bizarre stories regarding
investigations, inspections and ham license testing. He will also show a
short movie made during WWII depicting FCC field agents locating a hidden
spy transmitter and using FCC direction-finding vehicles.

As a second part of the program please bring your OLDEST QSL card and tell
us what you remember about the contact.

Don't forget to bring something for the auction.

CHAPTER PROGRAM FOR 15 FEBRUARY
Location: Neighbor's Restaurant
          262 Cedar La,
          Vienna, VA.

We will have a return visit from Sam Wilson who is involved with the U.S.
Defense Advanced Research Project Agency's Micro Air Vehicle (MAV) Program.

MAVs are defined to be flight vehicles much smaller than any current flight
vehicles. Fixed-wing MAVs will be capable of flight duration from 20
minutes to 2 hours, operating at 3-10 km in range, and can provide real-time
video, IR, or low light level TV. Both hovering and fixed wing types are
being developed.

Sam was with us about two years ago and presented a most interesting program
on the capability of MAVs, so plan to attend for an update on the program.

Don't forget to bring something for the auction.

CHAPTER PROGRAM 15 MARCH 2003
Location: Fairfax County's Public Safety Communications Center
          3911 Woodburn Rd.
          Annandale, VA

Frank Stoda, KA4TRG, will give us a tour of the Fairfax County emergency
dispatch Center. More details and exact time will be provided in the next
program update.
