Just wanted to publicly thank everyone who responded to my post on the WWII 
RTTY questions.  You've all given me a great picture of how things worked 
which clearly explains all of the things my late father and the other vets 
who worked at WZPT Biak told me.

Fifty years later in Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War, all I had to do 
to communicate with HQ back in New Jersey was pick up the phone - the 
commercial phone, that is - the military phone couldn't get me in touch 
people in the next building.
