[Qcwa] Nothing better to complain about?

I guess that pretty well sums it up.

After the last code/no-code flame fest died down, I haven't heard a peep
out of this
reflector.

Mean while, back on the bench, I decided to have another go at my
"vintage" station.
Back in 1967 after receiving my Novice license, I headed down to Henry
Radio in
Los Angeles and bought a Hammarlund, HQ-110 and a Heathkit DX-20.

After a bit of procrastinating, I finally got it on the air. (Stage
fright, millions of people
listening and the FCC waiting in the wings with "the hook" if I screwed up.)

Years go by, three houses and two marriages later, I decided I wanted to
recreate
that station. A bit of searching and another HQ-110 and DX-20 grace the
bench.
This time, I have the clock in the '110. Oh by, we be styling now.
And.... the VF-1
so I don't have to rely on a meager pile of crystals.

Add the speaker/remote box from a TCS set, and a BC-453 for a Q-fiver
and we're
ready to roll. 1997 SKN here I come.

And a special tip-o-the-hat to Ken in Arcadia, W6FU, for putting up with
my rusty fist.

This past week, I pulled the HQ-110, BC-453 and the control box out of
the shed to
see if it all still works. Well, it did for a while. Then one of the 60
year old wax bath
tub capacitors in the command set shorted out. Well, I guess it's got
that right to do so.

A few new poly caps later and things are purring right along.

Now to dust off the old DX-20 and VF-1 and put the antenna back up.
