Since very few users know the difference between text and html, I am =
suprised that many of your correspondents know or care. I am in the =
computer services business supporting small busienesses. SOP for my techs =
is to check for HTML and disable it. None, of my clients comment or =
compain about HTML being turned off.
In the context of say this email, both text and html will display the =
same. The difference is that html allows all of the "wierd" stuff, like =
animations, fonts, colors, etc. Of course, those people with portable =
devices, such as palm pilots can not read html at all. There are also =
programs like pine and some other character based email clients that can =
not read html. There are also a couple of email clients that create =
non-standard HTML emails, Goldmine is one.
The bottom line is, unless there is a need to send HTML, which is rare, =
HTML should be turned off.

I had no idea that the HATRED of HTML ran so deep. My mail program can
be set to send only plain text to certain addees, but only if those
addees are selected from the address book, not when using the "reply"
function. Many of my correspondents LIKE to have their mail in HTML, so
I don't want to set my outgoing mail to send only ASCII.
Hereafter I will try to avoid offending folks on this reflector.
