No Luck, Harry.....
Did a visual scan of a 1947 and 1960 callbook for "Fred" in W8 call
district ...no luck.... Discovered that Fred, Fredrick, and Alfred were
not a very popular name in the W8 district, which made the search easier.
So grabbed one of my old CD ROMs and did a search to find you a couple of
hams in Garfield Heights, OH . Now that was a shock ! ! !
There are 7 W8 calls, 2 K8 calls, 12 N8 calls, 7 KA8 calls,
15 KB8 calls, 4 KC8 calls, 2 WA8 calls, 1 WD8 call and 1 KG8 call.
All listed in Garfield Height, Ohio.
For a total of 51 calls (and that was in 1999).
I was going to suggest you get in touch with an amateur in Garfield
Heights and see if there was any memory of Fred Blechschmid, but there
are so many calls listed it may not help. Try K8VME,K8FZR,-W8s ZCN,
WSE,VPY,HKG,JUF,PMO,RZ or KG8O. All the rest have 2 letter prefixs.
Now can anyone satisfy my curiosity as to how there are 51 amateurs
in what to me doesn't sound like a very big place ??????
Tnx
