Hi All,
Really off topic so please excuse the general call for help. This applies to
ONLY those who live(d) in the Cleveland, Ohio area during the 50s. Please
reply direct if you have any information.
Endeavoring to help a brand new Ham learn what is Uncle's (now an SK)
callsign was for the opportunity of acquiring it as a vanity call (if not
reissued) The SK's information is:
Fred W. Blechschmid
who lived at 5454 E. 96th Street
Garfield Heights, Ohio
Fred worked as a broadcast engineer at station WXEL on the graveyard shift.
He was exposed to polio as a youngster and used crutches of his own design
to get around.
I know we are talking fifty years ago but perhaps one of you old timers in
the Cleveland area might remember him and his callsign. If you can suggest
places the nephew can start digging for information that will be appreciated
also.
TIA es 73, Harry
