[Qcwa] Ship "Florida"

Wally,
Tnx for info on the "CORSAIR" but from what you tell me it is not
the same ship I referred to, because the "Florida" had just been
donated to the QM corps by Vanderbilt who owned it and it was already
renamed "Col George H. Penrose" by them in mid 1940.   In fact
Charlie (W4chl) and I (W4FAG) had to wait for the radio shack to
be completed by Merrill Stevens Boat yard at their location on
the "Miami River"  just inboard from Miami harbor.  The radio shack
was put up on the 2nd deck towards the stern and we watched the
Marine Electronics Engineer build the "shack" step by step while
we waited for our first trip out to Sea.   I got a listing of
Previous owners from some site I failed to record and was shocked
that Vanderbilt was notthe original owner, and the original name
was not "Florida".
