Thanks guys. Bill .. that MURS lead was terrific ! On a Google search
using MURS, I came up with the PRSG - Personal Radio Steering Group -
which had tons of information on GMRS, MURS and FRS. That's more than
enough to get me going.
Other OMs may also be interested - much of the PRSG stuff (especially
GMRS and MURS) sounds A LOT like our VHF/UHF - repeaters and all ! The

Bob,
I would highly suggest looking into radios for the newly created MURS or
Multi Use Radio Service. Its a high power version of FRS -at 151 MHz.
Radio Shack and Moterola already have 'bubble pack' radios for it.
Range is about 5 miles.
