All this Hawaiian conversation brings to mind a question.
Just a short distance up the hill In Maui theres a small
town named Makawao (think thats right spelling). Near
there is a sign pointing to "KOKOMO". There is nothing
in the Hawaiian language that even comes close to KOKOMO
so an article in the Newspaper brought up and and tried
to find out how that name came about. It was decidedly
not related to anything Hawaiian. Unconfirmed rumors in
that vicinity of Maui suggested that during WW2 there was
a military unit (I think Marine Corps) that had so many
Indiana GI's in the unit that somehow they got a street
sign posted to that effect, and of course everyone has
heard of KOKOMO, Indiana (I for sure as I was born there).
Joe
I think the Hoosier Hotshots came from that area or was it
Indianapolis??
