Not sure if you intended that last one for my perusal.
Actually since I retired from ARINC here at their Honolulu
Station in 1984, most of my radio attention has been directed
towards ARMY MARS and on their freqcys.  I got so fedup with
all this contesting that goes on week after week on all the
ham bands.   I am a ragchewer at heart and never got dx'ing
into my blood.   Each time I tried to checkin and find someone
to rag chew with all I got was your 599 what is you nr.
I said what number you talking about.  Then they would say
your 10-10 number or some other ridiculous coded nr of some
kind.  I found very few of those types were interested in
just talking story as we say in Hawaii.   And you could'nt
entice them into wasteing precious time just chatting when
a hot contest was going on.   Seems like one was going on
every time I tried any band so finally just threw in the
towell
