Good though Mr. Staples,

Some years back as chairman and instructor of the telecommunication depar=
tment at a technical school we conducted business in this fashion with th=
e advisory board. We used a reflector, fax and teleconferencing to condu=
ct our business. We instituted the method for several reasons such as re=
ducing the financial consideration of voluntary members and the time requ=
irements which led to increased participation.

With secure chat rooms available, the officers and board of directors cou=
ld conduct business in near real time. Anything that can be used that re=
duces the financial and time considerations will increase participation. =
 I applaud your suggestion.

Serving on the QCWA Board requires a lot of personal and financial
sacrifice. How about a "virtual" or an "electronic" advisory board, to a=
ct
as a "sounding board" for the official/elected group? It is possible to
have a "reflector" with only invited membership. This would let those wh=
o
cannot attend board meetings in person, still be involved in the
association. It is a great place for input from past board members.
I might add that the other organization is considering an "electronic or
virtual" chapter to serve the needs of those who simply cannot get to a
chapter meeting. Of course "regular" chapter members can also participat=
e.

The "web world" is opening up so many exciting communications channels,
which can be terrific support for amateur radio communications, right?

Another thought: Perhaps the QCWA president could post a weekly newslette=
r
on this reflector; many other organizations are doing such.

Larry (W0AIB)
