Fellow Hams and anyone else who might be reading the mail.
As a non Member of QCWA (I have not yet been licensed 5 years and am an Extra
lite) I would like to say I enjoy a good argument as well as anyone. However,
I get really disgusted with this reflector for all the personal attacks. I do
not believe it is necessary to belittle someone's lack of interest in a
particular part of a hobby or for that matter an intellectual pursuit to make
a point.
To make my point, it took many different disciplines working together to
build the Manhattan Project and several others to deliver the finished
product. It perhaps could have been done without some but their special
knowledge made the whole work better.
What I am trying to say is that all of us have our abilities and interests.
We should be equally accepted for what the overall interest which brings us
together and not try to make ourselves above another. In my employment I like
to think I am more proficient than many but that does not make me a better
person, just able to do some things others cannot or have not interest in
doing. I can teach anyone to drive a truck but if they have no interest in
doing so what is the purpose of wasting the effort?
I do understand the desire to promote your particular interest but don't
degrade others to do so.
To back track for a final point, I attend the Banks of the Wabash Chapter 204
(?) meetings as often as possible and was a part of the QCWA Cruise last
November (my YL got her ticket on the cruise) and therefore believe I know
something about how good this organization is but your constant name calling
on this reflector makes it appear you are a bunch of spoiled and deprived
kindergarten kids who have never been taught to play together. Hams are
better than this! Please show that to anyone who might get on here.
For those who may want to reply, if you are going to flame me, please reply
to my email address and not to this reflector. If you have constructive,
"nonflammable," ideas then please put them here so others may add their own
and help us all to represent the hobby and this GREAT organization in a good
way.
Thank You for listening,
Steve Shorter
