Im in the TV news business. I see this all the time.
What this might surprise you, there are numerous "civic action groups" trying
to do just that. Ban motorcycles. Ban ugly casrs -- or what they believe
are ugly car. And I believe it is Vermont that had a ballot initiative a few
years ago aimed at banning snow plows and snow-blowers as causing "unsightly
discoloration of pure white snow." It lost.
I have not yet seen one to "ban fat people," for aesthetic reasons, but I am
willing to bet that a group dedicated to this exists somewhere. And, in case
you are not aware, most major amusement parks do ban obeese people from going
on rides on which they are to big to fit for safety reasons (I.E: If you are
to big and you fall off or are injured, then the park is liable.) This has
been challanged in court by civil rights groups and advocates for the obease.
but so far these rules have been upheld. I believe case involving (such a
park vs. a 400+ lb woman who was denied access to numerous rides is due to be
heard by the Supreme Court later this year.
