Thanks, Alan.
Good explanation of how it works.
The "prenet" stuff doesn't bother me at all. We have the same thing here in
OKC, Chapter 63, every Sunday morning, 3855. "Net" starts at 8:00 AM, a
"prenet" about 6:45, and then a few of us early birds actually start chatting
about 5:45-6:00 AM. It's really neat to see how the "early birds" like to
talk with one another.
The "group" thing will take some getting used to, though. But I will do my
best to fit in and adjust. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." 'Course, some
folks try to followa second idea, "If it ain't broke, break it. Then you can
fix it." (I worked under a supervisor for eight or nine years who had the
latter attitude. He went around breaking all sorts or organizational things
that the rest of us had to try to repair. Then he retired. What a relief.)
I suppose the "little peanut whistles" of 100 watts are small potatoes to
some. However, I had a most enjoyable QSO on 20 with a ham just south of
Birmingham Sunday afternoon after the QCWA net. He was operating 7 watts QRP,
SSB, using only solar power and a Carolina Windom. His signal came in here to
OKC far far stronger than Net Control from Virginia. You just never know what
propagation is going to offer us. That keeps it all interesting.
Again, thanks for the extensive description of the net. I'll persist and see
what I can do. My 100 watts into a G5RV 35 feet up may not make it all that
well, but I'll persist. After all, we are all in this together!
Happy New Year to All. May whatever "problems" you face in 2003 offer just
enough challenge so you can solve them easily, learn some useful things, and
stretch and grow.
