>SURE, JOE! The first push-pull amps consisted of
two tubes, side-by-side. When viewed together,
along with their tube pins slightly exposed in their tube
sockets, they looked somewhat like an elephant
(of sorts). The confusion as to which end of the
elephant is the tail and which is the head, led many
to call this animal a "floppy-eared pushme-pullme."
And since both the front and back end of an elephant
operate simultaneously, you can see where the idea
of a large, elephant-sized amp with parasitic suppressor
"ears" took on the name of a push-pull power device.
Always look to your forebears for answers to these
technical questions, Joe -- that way you save bandwidth.
