I take it the recommended scope was a 10" Dobsonian. They give you lots o=

aperture for the money. I have never used one, but it should be great for=
deep-sky viewing. You might add a a finder with no magnification to the o=
ne
which comes with the scope. It makes it easier to find your way. By the=
way, the 10" is not very portable. If you plan to take it to a viewing
site, an 8" might be more convenient. Good luck. One other thought:
there is a great web site at <www.heavens-above.com>. It covers both
astronomy and amateur satellites. =
