Hi Jeff,
I don't understand why you would think that a new chapter would "fragment the
organization." I belong to several chapters and have attended many meetings
both of chapters that I belong to and just visiting. QCWA has somewhere in the
neighborhood of 200 chapters and most of them will tell you that belonging to a
chapter increases the enjoyment of QCWA. If there is a chapter in your area
you should visit or join and see what the chapter may add to your participation
in QCWA. Chapters are merely the "local branch" of the larger Association!
The chapter type that Larry is talking about would not take anything away from
QCWA and may well bring in new members. The QCWW (Quarter Century Wireless
Women) chapter does exactly what he has proposed for the "Marine" chapter. My
wife belongs to the QCWW chapter and the local Chapter 180. I am sure that she
doesn't think of that as fragmenting QCWA. Lots of men and women belong to the
QCWW chapter of QCWA.
Can I help you locate a chapter to visit?

Gary Harrison, K0BC
