I woke up this morning to a very disturbing email that Gary Anderson,
W4IVF, passed away yesterday afternoon. I have no more details at this
point.

Many of the NC PVRC crew knew Gary. He had participated in Field Days with
us and was a Sweepstakes stalwart, always contributing his points to PVRC.

I met Gary on a mountain top for the June VHF contest when I was 18 years
old. We spent many a June, September and a few August contests on one
mountain top or another cranking out Qs. Gary was the provider of the 222
MHz station that was used for most of those contests, which became lovingly
known as the '220 Lounge", because the slow activity on 220 gave us plenty
of time for 'other' activities.

Through the winding paths our lives have taken over the past 44 years, we
stayed in touch, though not as much as I would have liked. As a much more
eloquent speaker than I said, this hobby is really about the friendships
and relationships you make more so than the 'radio stuff'. RIP, Gary.

73, Mike N4GU
