Okay at least I was back in the saddle. I haven't done much contesting since I arrived in NC.
Endless numbers not my favorite contest. But opportunity to get on the air.
First evening seemed a near disaster. As stations were sending me a report too much QRM - even inside a 250 Hz filter. Stations west of me often calling on top of my report - I would ask for a fill once but after that I didn't want to be a bother - so I listened to the next QSO ... some of these multi stations seemed to be counting QSOs across multiple transmitters I think. so who knows how many of my few contacts on day 1 are busted.
After that I got decently in the groove. I still don't like cut numbers and preceding numbers with a T. But I need to get over this phobia. I sure wanted to send AAN to one station at 50 wpm. but i played nice and didn't.
Pleased by many ops with high scores sending full numbers.
Note with my limited operating I didn't bother with the low bands.
Here FTDX10 into an 80m EFHW. I have no clue if I should enter with TB-Wires overlay (not having a tribander up (-:
Oh this wire is only up around 25 feet. I hope to get it elevated more by fall. If I don't find someone with a pneumatic launcher closer, I was told the Knightlites have one I could borrow. But better to find a skilled operator (-:
PS - a little about the op. I am NOT a big time contester. Somehow a plaque with 10 million endorsement followed me to NC. I am also interested in QRP and dabbling in radio stuff. I do have a top band inverted L up at 50 feet but have not yet optimized the counterpoise.
