One of our own, Tripp Owens, N4NTO, became a silent key this morning, July
4. Although some of the details of what happened are still unclear, we
do know that Tripp was on a POTA activation and apparently the mast he was
using came into contact with an overhead power line.

Tripp was an enthusiastic member of PVRC and an important part of the Corn
Crib contest team, AG4TT, among his many other interests in life including
his family and church.

Over the last four or five years, I had spent a great deal of time with
Tripp, working on the station and sitting side by side with him in many
contests. He was a passionate POTA activator and he died doing something he
loved, for what cold comfort that may be. There should have been many more
Qs in his log.

Please keep his family in your thoughts during this tragic time.

And remember to keep safety at the front of your mind whenever working on
your station, wherever it may be.

We will miss him greatly.
