Most of the team was able to get to Turks and Caicos a weekend ahead of the ARRL
SSB Contest coming up so this was our first NAQP RTTY test from the beautiful
island. We chose "Sunny" VP5 as our name although Saturday turned out
to be unusually rainy and cloudy!
Wayne, KU4V and Eric, NR4O did yeoman work in the chairs to keep both radios
going almost 100% of the available time. A couple software glitches cost a few
minutes but in the race for bragging rights we were content with our claimed
third place watching NP3Y take an early lead only to be passed by NJ4P. We then
chased NP3Y while looking over our shoulders at NE1C closing on us with a
slightly higher mult count. We missed a few far west mults on 80M where we are
antenna challenged but the other antennas performed well to give some nice high
band runs.
Thanks for all the Q's and mults. Listen out for us in ARRL SSB next weekend.
73,
Jim, Eric and Wayne
