My first amateur radio station (KA0CWA) at my parent’s house in Whitten, Iowa (1978-79).  On the left is a Hammarlund HQ-129X receiver, and on the right is a crystal-controlled, Heathkit DX-20 transmitter. I had a longwire antenna stretched from chimney on the roof to a large walnut tree in the yard that allowed for many Morse code QSOs.  (My high school English/German teacher was my “Elmer” and let me borrow his equipment!!)
