North American QSO Party, SSB - August
That was a "tuff row to hoe" Whew, not being the best at SSB and a 1/4 wave
vertical behind my new apartment? It was tuff, but as my buddy N4NTO says
"every point counts" DIdn't really have plans to get on the air but
thought, why not?? Moved last weekend so this weekend a tick more laid back.
Anyhow put up the mc-750 and fired up the 590sg,found a mic:),took me
awhile and away I went. I had bought a 80 meter coil for the vertical but
on 75 it was stone deaf:) I'm laughing as I type this. I worked three
stations and man did they have good ears!!!!!
Anyhow, I had a good time and here at my new apartment there is a pretty
thick section of trees behind me and I'm going to try my best to put up an
efhw. If I can choke out the current running back down the feedline into
the apartment I will be in tall cotton. I'm scared that every tap light in
the building will be going off with cw and before long I will have to teach
a morse class to my neighbors :) Have a 1500 watt transformer coming and I
have the feeling before it's all said and done, I will be saying my great
friend's favorite phrase "what in the hell was I thinking" :):)
