Over the years the 5-Million (5M) and Olympics programs have
proven to be popular with PVRC. For me, my 5M award plaque sits in the
middle of my “I Love Me” wall and has done so for almost twenty years.
Without a doubt, these programs have helped PVRC to become a leading light
in contemporary radio sport.
And for all these years the PVRC management team has strived to
keep the rules for both the Olympics and the 5M program updated and tuned
to the interests of PVRC members. The 2023 PVRC membership team, led by
Doug Hart AA3S, wants to continue that process.
We would like your inputs for these programs. What changes
would you like to see to make the Olympics and the 5M program more
interesting and meaningful for you? What would encourage you more? Maybe
keep your butt in the seat longer or entice you to participate in more
contests?
We have a membership that includes contesters who are
relatively new to ham radio and radio sport. And others who are world
renown for their contest and technical experience. Some of us really are
rocket scientists, or electrical engineers, or farmers, or IT
professionals, or school teachers or whatever. Some of us are young and
others have been contesters since time began. Between us all we have a
wide range of experiences, thought patterns, and ideas. Let’s draw on our
diverse ideas and help make PVRC membership even more fun and rewarding.
Please share your ideas on the PVRC reflector *or email me (or any PVRC
officer) directly* and help make the 5M and Olympics programs even
better.
