=======================
Hello PVRC and friends,
No, no matter what you may have heard, the meeting notice is not April
Fools. We will see if any of the WPX SSB was anticipatory April Fools.
As with all our meetings since Covid 19, our regular monthly meeting
of the PVRC NC East Chapter cannot be held in the group room at
Manchester's Bar and Grille, or be held anywhere as a physical
gathering, while obeying common sense and North Carolina statewide and
Wake
County social distancing orders due to the pandemic.
Fully understanding and cooperating in the spirit of the orders, and
with a modicum of previous success, we will have our meeting
over-the-internet
using our PVRC account on the GoToMeeting server. This is still the
means for quite a while.
We have moved the time from the Manchester's dinner meeting times, to
7-8:30 pm to allow folks to eat at home when their own food is cooked,
since we will not be both eating and bantering across the table as
during a Manchester's meeting. GoToMeeting will come on for this at
6:30 pm to
allow "early arrival" pre-meeting yakety-yak.
Check-in particulars are above. Please remember to keep your mic on
mute when you are not speaking. It is amazing how much noise can get
on the circuit from desktop noises when the mike is open. Also, please
set up your display name to show {name} {callsign}. That's digital era
name badges. Also it allows the Chairman to keep up with who has come
in, without having to memorize call signs to go with faces, which he
can't do anyway.
With checkins increasing, take care to be decently brief during the
round-the-table. Hold your cross-table questions until after all have
had their turn. If you are multitasking during the round-the-table,
for courtesy you may wish to kill both your microphone and camera
until you are called.
Delighted, we have been getting to see and hear members and
prospective members from well outside the previous easy driving
distance.
Newcomers will be treated like they've been coming for twenty years.
Our western NC brethren are especially welcome.
Mike Barts, N4GU, will again obligingly be lurking in the background
making sure the Chairman doesn't accidentally redirect the
conversation to Mars with an errant keystroke. Thanks, Mike.
For help with GoToMeeting from someone that actually knows how it
works, reply to this email. We will be watching out for you.
73, Guy K2AV
