Hi Carl,

Thought about on-the-air but then not everybody's station is well set up
for that.

Normally my station is not set up for SSB. I move things, and set up a
bolted down gooseneck microphone stand, disconnect and remove keyer paddles
for the SS, NAQP and CQ160 SSB contests. The microphone is in the way for
CW and digital modes. SSB net meeting would force me to use the operating
space to attend and run the meeting. Antennas not equal among attendees and
some folks mahy have skip zones. Would not be able to do show and tell, or
do presentations as possible on GoToMeeting.

Internet is ubiquitous, and in my case I can use a much better space for
GTM than the operating position. Also, it allows people to use their smart
phones from anywhere with wifi to get in.

Don't think that one-at-a-time SSB supports the kind of regular banter that
we have at our meetings.

However, as Jim proposed, I think some would enjoy a little SSB meet more
often, but not for the regular meeting. So that is a thought to hold on to.

Also want to get something going that we can keep going to augment the
dinner meetings when face to face is possible again. People traveling for
work would be able to make the meeting with their smartphones, maybe
participate in the dinner meeting while partaking of room service.
Something that N4AF Howie could check into. WJ9B would be able to join us
from Idaho, and who knows, maybe even Jose'. GTM is a foot in the door on
the concept. Get a feel for how it sets up and works.

73, Guy.
