This is a great idea. The limiting factor is often the poor participation in the host state. This generally results from lack of motivation in the sponsoring club. The hard committee work has definitely moved the Carolinas participation up although there is still room for improvement especially in SC. For example I got a postcard reminding me of the NCQP. Great!
My viewpoint is also that ops in the host state should be ambassadors for their state with scores secondary. So we do mobiles going to rare counties and choosing bands for wide coverage and not simply rate. Frequent QSY with high bands for DX and others takes precedence over low bands to just give and get county mults with others in state. Mobiles create excitement by starting a new pileup at every county line and band change. Welcome out of state “carpetbaggers”!
If organizers will emphasize these principles in their own states, and get more mobiles on the road, we can avoid the criticism that from more distant ops some state QSO parties are more boring than watching paint dry.

PS: Look for us as an “Anagram Special Call” mobile on Carolinas Weekend SC and NC
