"A Boy, his radio and a flagpole"

This was my first major effort in the ARRL CW DX contest since moving
to NC and getting my 20 foot tall flagpole antenna up. Was very interested
to see how it would play in a major DX contest. I was very pleased.

The great low band conditions surely helped. 80 meters sounded like
20 - low noise, loud DX signals. I was able to hear and work many EU
stations and a few DX stations in Asia and Oceania. 40 was great. Had a
good JA run including a BY station. Highlights on 40 was working JT1C) and
an A6 busting their big pileups easily. I did not expect that but
certainly not complaining. Only wish I had some antenna for 160. I could
hear EU stations fairly well on the flagpole but it is way too short to be
able to tune. 20M was great with great openings to EU and Asia.

Spent 27 hours in the contest and wish I had a young guy's stamina to
have done more.

     Log submitted.
