Soapbox: I was concerned about doing this year's SS with only my flagpole
antenna and no SO2R. After solid years of clean sweeps and decent score,
I wondered how I would adjust to doing a SS with a compromise,
non-competitive station.
It was hard work pushing to get through with my 20 ft antenna. In the end
I did much better than I expected but I'm totally wiped out and quit a
couple hours only. And I did get my clean sweep - something I did not
expect. The last section was VE6.
I decided to do the contest Assisted thinking I needed all the help I
could get. What a waste. The spots were no help. Found all the hard
mults without them.
It was frustrating to get lots of spots on my signal from lots of places
with good spotting signal reports and yet be calling CQ almost endlessly
without replies. I was spotted four times from VE6 and only ever heard
one. Grrr.
Worked loud of PVRCers. Thanks for the Qs.
