Hello PVRC and friends,

The regular first Thursday monthly meeting of the PVRC NC East chapter will
be held Thursday August 1, 2019 in the group room at Manchester's Bar and
Grille, 9101 Leesville Rd, Raleigh, NC 27613.

All are invited. Newcomers and visitors distinctly welcome. You will be
treated like you've been our friend for twenty years.

*5:15 PM*: Arrivals begin and continue throughout the meeting. Late
arrivals please sign in on the Chairman's log when you first come in.
Ordering meals will begin when someone is more interested in meals than
blather. Wait staff is used to our style.

We do it this way because some need to arrive early enough to beat one or
more of the several regular weekday interstate jam-ups. Others can't leave
early and always get caught in the jam. So latecomers are **entirely
welcome**. We've all been there and **entirely understand**. Anyone who
comes in during the round-the-table will be picked up at the end if the
round has gone past where they are sitting. Wait staff is used to our late
arrivals. We allow a 30 second embarrassing pause for anyone who gets
caught with a mouth full of Chicken Wrap when it's their turn. After 30
seconds you have to talk with your mouth full.

*6:00 PM*: Serious, organized QRN (as opposed to blathering, meandering
QRN) usually begins with the round-the-table. Dining is any time after
5:15, shortly after you tackle one of the wait staff. Official meeting is
officially over after official round-the-table, any official program, and
the chairman runs out of official blather. The entire meeting is only over
when all the post-official-meeting stand-up meetings break up and the last
few go home. That could be anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour later.

*Points of Privilege: If Ted is there, latest on the WinLink flap and
FCC/ARRL proceedings, and what did the ARRL board decide? *

*Around the Table, *General Purpose Wails and Tales. Fish stories from
various contests, sunburn data from IOTA expeditions and other data.
Technical deportment. Scandals and bewildering burnings of electronics. And
so forth.

The totally official part of the meeting ends with the 'round the table,
but unofficially ends with the last small discussion or the establishment
closes, whichever occurs first. In fair weather, discussions may continue
into the night in the parking lot.

73, and see you there,

Guy K2AV
Chair, PVRC-NCE

[Note: high tipping ensures that the owner will suffer a severe beating by
the wait staff if he ever tries to schedule the room out from under us. If
you can't or prefer not to high tip, don't worry, nobody is looking.]
