Hello PVRC and friends,
The regular first Thursday monthly meeting of the PVRC NC East Chapter will
be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 in the group room at Manchester's Bar and
Grille, 9101 Leesville Rd, Raleigh, NC 27613.
All are invited. Newcomers and visitors distinctly welcome. You will be
treated like you've been our friend for twenty years.
5:15 PM: Arrivals begin and continue throughout the meeting. Late arrivals
please sign in on the Chairman's log when you first come in. Ordering meals
begins when someone is more interested in meals than blather.
We do it this way because some need to arrive early enough to beat one or
more of the several regular weekday interstate jam-ups. Others can't leave
early and get caught in the jam. So latecomers are **entirely welcome**.
We've all been there and we certainly do understand.
Wait staff is used to our spread out arrivals and bunched meal orderings.
6:00 PM: Serious, organized QRN (as opposed to blathering, meandering QRN)
begins with points of privilege or the round-the-table: General Purpose
Wails and Tales. Fish stories from SS CW, and anything else.
I am sure we will hear boatloads about the amazing local sunset and
European sunrise openings in the Stew Perry. And about some rather large
scores from the membership. Perhaps some prior thought about the CQ160CW
5pm on 24 January. If these conditions are persisting, one does NOT want to
miss that one. Get on with anything, but get on serious. This may be the
winter 160 season of our lifetimes.
Still hoping to see *NZ4N, W4MY, K4ZA,* to receive their well-deserved
awards in person to share in all the hoo-ha, glory and bask in the
limelight. Will have to go to the mail, with no fan-fare Friday morning, if
haven't seen folks.
The totally official part of the meeting ends after the presentation, but
unofficially ends with the last small discussion or the establishment
closes, whichever occurs first. In fair weather, discussions have been
known to continue into the night in the parking lot.
73, and see you there,
Guy K2AV
Chair, PVRC-NCE
[Note: high tipping ensures that the owner will suffer a severe
beating by the wait staff if he ever tries to schedule the room out
from under us. If you can't or prefer not to high tip, don't worry,
nobody is looking.]
