Ted,

For a temporary installation that will probably work OK.  Consider that
over time, the THHN insulation will deteriorate exposing the copper to
potential dissimilar metal corrosion, resulting in failure of the copper's
mechanical strength.

I would suggest using some UV resistant rope or a loop of small stainless
steel cable.
