Comments:
That was another fun NAQP CW. We always enjoy participating in multi-op
contests and outstanding team camaraderie. For us the radio fun really
started on the low bands. As you can see, ZERO Qs on 10 as expected. 15 gave
us a couple more than expected but less mults. The disappointing band was
20. We just never seemed to feel loud and the rates showed it. SP mults were
fine but runs, well another story. Speaking of another story, 40, 80 and 160
were outstanding. Due to poor high band performance we moved to 40 and 80
much earlier than expected, but looking back we may have moved too late. All
three low bands just kept on giving. It certainly did not hurt to have very
quiet band conditions.
Another highlight and motivator for the entire contest time was to watch the
scores on CQContest.net. Our good friends at NX5M were also sending their
scores to the site and it was lots of fun to watch our positions continue to
change for the entire 12 hour period. With us being in the east we changed
bands before they did so that gave us a temporary mult advantage. Then they
would move and catch up and go ahead. As for Qs it was pretty much the same
but I think our advantage was on 160. NX5M is still in the building phase
and if they had their 160 antennas completed we would have been left in the
dust. Great job guys and lets do it again!
Finally, a big thanks to the rest of the team. It is always a great day to
host multiop events at my QTH. Yes, it is getting harder and harder to find
teams, but when we do the fun starts. To Dan, Mike and Tucker - a BIG THANKS
for making the day so much fun.
