Good news! Frandy, who takes care of Jody's (VP5JM) place went over to
Harbour Rock, our Turks and Caicos villa today and gave me a preliminary
report by telephone. We were absolutely amazed to hear that other than
losing some roofing materials and the SteppIR coming off the AB-577 mast we
have had no other significant damage. The "rocket launcher" seems to have
only launched the SteppIR but is still vertical and ready to be reloaded.
None of the many sliding glass doors with that great view of Grace Bay were
damaged and all windows are secure. Jeep parked outside is undamaged. An EHU
and a fiberglass tube are broken so I'll try to get the SteppIR repaired
ASAP. Reconstructing the path of the eye wall, we surmise that we were on
the leeward side of the ridge during the strongest 175 mph wind event and
avoided the full force of the storm which unfortunately destroyed so many
other properties on Providenciales. Our managers are with another cell
carrier so we haven't been able to talk with them yet, but hopefully we can
get roof repairs going soon. No one knows when electricity will be restored
and AC can be turned on again to keep humidity under control. Our son and I
grabbed seats on JetBlue next Sunday so we'll do a full review but we should
be QRV for upcoming contests including CQWW SSB and CW.

Sincere thanks to everyone who sent messages of concern and created some
very good luck, karma, joss and blessings for us.

73,

Jim, K4QPL (VP5M)
