          Soapbox :

I didn’t have much time to prepare before the contest, so I just sat down a few minutes after the start. I figured I’d warm up with some S&P, so I spun the dial down the band and clicked some spots on the band map. Oops! This is NAQP! And as easy as that, I become Multi-Two.

I plowed on with lots of breaks. I had to debug several cables that were disconnected for housework, and I never really got anything going on the high bands. 40 and 80 were fun until the horrible noise rolled in. I stuck it out for a bit as a challenge, until I noticed something intermittent - my SWR would keep spiking up and then settle back down. Sorry Bruce! I finally pulled the plug before I blew something up.

It wasn’t the day I was hoping for, but it was fun in a different way and I got some points for the club.

73,
   Rob K4OV
