Surprised I worked the locals as few times as I did, since I did the
whole thing S&P. Just having a blast using the ts-590 as an S&P rig.
Worked w4mr on 10 thru 80, nc4kw on 15 thru 160, but nobody on all 6.
Think I got Tucker and Guy twice. Got Howie(west) once, and Howie(east)
once. The rest of you guys hide real good. Just didn't search fast
enough. Or maybe I missed you all taking too many breaks. Hadda grill
my own beer-braised brats. No Chef Archie, just Chef FuBar.
Worked 80m with the dilapidated folded dipole. Dilapidated because the
support line is broken, and the center is currently still stuck hanging
at the grandiose height of about 12 feet, where it landed in the top of
a dogwood. 62 Q's NVIS, including MT, AZ and CA. THAT WILL NEVER WORK.
heh. Do whut ya gotta do, cuz it beats not operating.
Thinking on an entirely new plan for the wires in the deciduous
biological antenna support structures, based on FD experiments and this
NAQP. Film at 11. (Film? Whut dat?) Had good results with 2 dipoles
separated by a reflector. The models looked good(compared to a single
dipole). RBN tests show consistent and repeatable results, and actual
use in the two contests were frequently dramatic. Thinking that will
improve if I spend time to correct the geometry and if I can make it a
more permanent arrangement. [Currently the WNW facing antenna is on a 30
foot K4TMC-sourced fiberglass mast.] Looking like a fun project, and it
might actually free up a support or two(and the mast) if I can
incorporate fan dipoles.
Is it fall yet?

Blue screen of death around 9pm put some doubt into
the day's operation, but the cpu rebooted ok, and log was recovered.
So there was room for another 100 Q's.
Very much enjoyed an all-S&P contest using the
Kenwood TS-590. With the RX EQ settings tuned
for CW and the great filters, its easy on the ears.
tnx fer the q's.
