Did not have as much time as I would have liked.
Probably put in 9 hours total, S&P.
But managed a sweep anyway! 1st time in 5 years.
Notes to self:
1) get that darned tribander fixed
2) stop being so cheap and buy that new SALA RX antenna
3) remember that 1500W is 4 dB more than what I am running so be more
patient

Good rates during the times I could operate. Fun to say hello to friends. I
was
surprised that GTA was my last mult (after 8 p.m. local on Sunday).

Club: Potomac Valley Radio Club GREAT TURNOUT!!
Comments:
SSB SS is my "club benefit" contest. Sweep is amazingly easy SSB Low Power
Unlimited compared to CW QRP Unassisted! (which I missed by 1) LAX was last
section to come in.
Thumbs up to all the good phone operators. I'm in awe. Thumbs down to those
persons (don't like using the word "hams" for them) who believe that they
are entitled to a 6khz chunk of spectrum for inane conversation in "Hi-Fi"
SSB using no filters and complain about a 2kz compressed low power signal 3
khz away! Guess that topic will be around forever.

Comments:
Where was PR during the first half of SS? This was the only section that I
used
the cluster to find. Then, I worked 2 more.
As you can see by the results, 40 was the money band from my QTH. I had
both
of my K3s setup in diversity mode with the long beverages on the RX input
and
the short beverages on the AUX input and that worked well. Kept the noise
level
down while allowing me to listen in two directions. Stations were actually
separated between left and right ears which helped with pileup management.
Which, on Saturday night, there were many of.
With Sunday came the distractions, so as usual I could not keep myself
focused
for the 24 hours allowed. Hope this contribution helps the overall PVRC
club
score.
This coming weekend back to CW with CQWW. Really looking forward to hosting
a
M2 entry. May 10 and 15 meters cooperate.
73,
Bruce

Comments:
FT-950 @ 90W to an 80 Meter horizontal loop for all bands (80-10). Couldn't
operate the full contest, so was pleased with the results just using a hunk
of
wire. Tough to get good runs going with no antenna help, but managed a
couple
on 80 toward the end. I'm not a big phone op. To do list for next year will
include getting phone macros running. Nice condx. Was a struggle finding
the
last one (ONE), but got him and was thrilled to get a sweep.
