Quick  tip: Chokes

Coax fed antennas need a high impedance choke at the feed point.  Using a choke or balun will improve the performance of your antenna, prevent pattern distortion, and prevent RF coming down the feedline, which can cause RFI.  Lots of good information about making and using chokes is available in W1HIS's treatise on the subject.

Look here to find the right kind of ferrite to make your own chokes.

GRAPEVINE:  What are people saying about KF7P products?

Hi Chris,

I want to thank you for the excellent workmanship on my new entrance panel!  I have seen similar panels by name brand manufacturers that cost hundreds of dollars more and did not exceed the quality of your products.  Your attention to detail and design far outweighed my expectations.  I certainly appreciate your availability by phone and email initially, and throughout the manufacturing process.
I was also impressed with the fast turn around time from order to delivery, and the professional packing job. Customer service is what keeps a company alive and growing, and you are certainly on the right track.
I have already referred several members of our local radio club to you, and will continue to do so.

Thanks again!

Chris,
The arms arrived today in fine shape. I am very impressed with the product/quality work you have done. I am very very happy. Much better than any of the stuff that the OEM company makes. Thank you very much for the fine craftsmanship.

Hi Chris,
Received my order today, very fast turn around. You have just restored my faith in quality products made in the good ole USA. Your entrance box is beautiful - no sharp edges, gorgeous copper sheet, nice paint finish and everything just plain right. Packing was excellent with attention to detail to prevent any shipping damage. Thanks for all the plastic plugs. Wife ate all the candy! And to top it off, all at very reasonable price. Your efforts are appreciated.

Again, big thanks,

Happy summer!

It's July, it's hot, and it's time to get that tower up!  I have a few new products to help with your tower work. Remember to be safe when you are doing tower work, and drink lots of water.

New Product
Yellowjack Tower Tool

If you've ever put up or taken down Rohn tower, you probably remember how difficult it was to seperate some of the sections.  Once upon a time there was a neat tool that helped with this, but it has been out of production for some time.  Now it is back and improved thanks to the input from professional tower climbers K7LXC, K7NV, and K6NA.

Yellowjack tower tool demo
The Yellowjack will separate tower sections, pull them together, and align bent or off axis legs.  It comes with a lanyard loop on the front of the tool for attachment of your lanyard/carabiner, or you can get one from KF7P Metalwerks as an optional accessory.  Comes powdercoated in bright yellow; in stock and ready to ship.

Our Price: $145.00

Tower Leg Grounding Fixture

Those of you with crank up towers know there isn't a good way to attach a ground wire to the base.  Either a hole has to be drilled through the thick steel for a wire lug, or some mickey mouse solution is devised to attach a wire to one of those enormous bolts. Now there is an easier way, and it also accomplishes grounding of the coax shields as well.
The bracket is made from stainless steel and bolts to tower base using one of your 3/4" base bolts.  Comes with a solid copper #2 ground lug for attachment to your ground rod(s).  Also comes with four bulkhead connectors and a copper liner to reduce resistance and eliminate the dissimilar metal problem between copper and galvanized steel.

Our Price: $50.00

New Product
Ethernet Protection

Ethernet cables are just as susceptible to lightning induced surges and problems as other cables.  Keep your computer and network from getting fried with an Ethernet protection unit.  Unit comes with RJ45 shielded jacks on both sides. Works with gigabit too!

Our Price: $41.95
