This is from March, 2008, and is a component change. You'd have to have a
very low serial number to not have this already in place, as in serial 3xx
or earlier. Current schematic has the new value. There was some talk about
a CW rise time setting in config, but you can't find "rise time" in the
current manual, so they must have canned the idea.

As best I can read it, it remedies a slightly softer rise than fall by
equalizing the two.  My gut guess is that back then you'd have to use a
scope to see it, and I think pretty hard to hear it. I remember a couple of
blind A/B comparisons of two rigs, one with the mod, and nobody could
reliably tell the difference.

Amps tend to sharpen up the waveshape by not responding as much to the low
power portion of the keyed waveshape. But the thing to remember is that
basically the waveshape is determined in DSP, since at one time.

Have you ever heard a K3 that sounded mushy?  You have never sounded mushy
to me. By most accounts K3 is as clean a CW signal barefoot as can be.
