[PVRCNC] Google Hi-Jack Virus/Malware

On Wednesday I noticed that one of our PCs (mine) could no longer get to
Google when using www.google.com.   After some troubleshooting I found out
that I could get there quite well when using Google's IP address
74.125.131.105.    So, using BING  (my new Google replacement) .. I looked
for information about Google Hi-Jack issues.  Yes - there it was.

 

Fortunately, my issue is not nearly as involved as what I read (no
redirects, no pop-ups, etc) - just a failed URL that seems to be trying to
take me to 87.125.87.99.   

 

I followed the various suggested 'how to clean it' steps but without
success.

 

QUESTION:  Has anyone had this issue and had any success cleaning  without
doing a total rebuild?   I REALLY don't want to do a rebuild... again.
