[PVRCNC] CQWW-CW Preparations...

I was having a great time in the CQWW-SSB in a strictly S&P effort
concentrating mainly on 10m. I was having moderate success ( about 350
contacts) despite the steep drop in the sunspot count and fantastic 10m LP
openings to Asia from several weeks before.

Then my TailTwister rotor failed. Appears to be the standard jammed brake
wedge. None of the standard tricks (reverse jogging ) worked. Nor did
shooting a line over the boom and manually rocking the beam back and forth
while someone activated the brake from the shack. Rotor resistance readings
on the wires at the shack end are normal except one side of motor windings
read 2 ohms high. Control box output voltages are all OK.

The usual "clang" when the brake disengages is not being heard . So it's
jammed in an almost useless SSW direction. So other than learning a lot
about the long path to 8Q7 it's useless.

I would really like to operate in the CQWW-CW in 2 weeks.

Is there any one lurking here who can help me get back in the fray by
climbing my 50' Rohn 45 tower and doing a rotor swap-out for me? The
antenna is a lightweight HyGain Explorer14 mounted about a foot above the
tower top. The rotor is mounted a few feet below the top of the tower on a
standard rotor plate.

Please email or phone at 919-556-7940 if you can help.
Thanks,
Mike, K1MW
