[PVRCNC] OT- TW cable free 50% internet speed increase

I got an email that from TWC that there is a free increase in internet 
download speed available.

Some people got emails saying they only needed to reboot the modem.
I got one saying I had to do a free modem swap.

Given the charges recently tacked on to all TWC bill for modem lease,
I'm a bit suspicious of just what TWC gets out of this free modem swap.

I'm also a bit concerned that the new modem will be a cheap piece of 
junk and RF prone.

Just for kicks, I rebooted my modem in the hopes it would upgrade itself 
like newer ones. I got confounding stats on whether there was any 
increase in speed.  It varied from test to test and from test program to 
test program.  You might have guessed that the Roadrunner tests always 
show the highest speeds-- showing 20 mbps download speed while other 
programs show 3 to 5 mbps.

Have any of you done this swap or upgrade?  What resulted?
