First time trying to contest from this house and it's definitely not a
contest-friendly station IC-706 with hand mic (yuk), no vox, low
power, single dipole, manual antenna tuning. The only luxury I had was
a RadioShack DSP/filter. I was grateful that the power lines a block
away didn't seem to cause any problems.

Worked NT and EB back-to-back on 15m for #77 and #78 at 2306Z as the
band was fading. I managed to run a little bit on 75m but was still
missing PR and NV, so decided to try to find them on 20m. Heard a
non-contester complaining that he couldn't keep his sched because of a
pile-up caused by a PR station, so I found it and managed to get
through on the 2nd call! Then had just about given up on NV and
decided to make one last pass through 40m when I heard Whiskey 7 Radio
Nevada calling. Somehow he managed to get my exchange. This sweep was
definitely more of an accomplishment (and luck) than when I ran high
power from K3KO's wonderful station.

The first improvement is going to have to be to free up my hands so I
can talk and type at the same time. Should have done that sooner.
