Greetings and best wishes reciprocated.
The NC powerhouse, K4M of the CARS group, which has for all recent memory
finished first in NC and in the top 20 nationally in the competitive Class
2A, is taking a "sabbatical" this year and will not be erecting its three
90'/70'/40' towers plus innumerable wires for its principal stations and
GOTA.
The cw crew will not be totally off duty this year and relaxing at the beach
however. Alan, AA4FU, and Jim, K4QPL, plan to be QRV from K4QPL in class 1E.
We will concentrate on cw but if rates drop we'll grab the mycrowphone and
run some SSB for as long as we can stand it. The welcome relief this year is
that FD set up will be in the a/c shack and consist of plugging in Alan's K3
as the SO2R second radio alongside the Orion II instead of using the
venerable TS-850. Of course, we'll need to refill the generator now and
then.
Any PVRC ops without other plans feel free to drop in anytime and take a
turn at the key or mike. Just come upstairs through the detached garage.
There will be cold 807's etc. in the shack fridge or BYOB.
Talk-in on 800 Mhz. 919 426 8051
GL to all. 73,
Jim, K4QPL
